Product Description

Steelox SA supplies ASTM A516 Grade 70 carbon steel plates specifically manufactured for pressure vessel and boiler applications operating under low to moderate temperature service conditions.

A516 Grade 70 offers excellent notch toughness and superior weldability, making it a preferred material for fabrication in demanding industrial environments. It is widely used in pressure vessels and industrial boilers where reliable performance under varying pressure and temperature conditions is required.

Plates up to and including 40 mm thickness may be supplied in the as-rolled condition unless normalising is specified. Plates exceeding 40 mm thickness, as well as plates requiring notch toughness testing, are supplied in the normalised condition.

Minimum impact energy requirements:

  • 20J minimum t ≤ 25 @ -46°C
  • 25 < t ≤ 50 @ -40°C
  • 50 < t ≤ 63 @ -35°C

Additional Information

  • HIC testing is available as a supplementary requirement.
  • Supplementary requirements apply only when specified in the purchase order in accordance with ASTM A20 / A20M.
